Granite stele of a giants' grave surrounded by Mediterranean scrub

Culture

Sardinia, beyond the beach

Nuragic towers and giants' graves, Cannonau and Vermentino, open-air festivals and market mornings. The island's culture begins a few minutes from the village.

Archaeology

Stones older than Rome

The surroundings keep monuments from three thousand years of island history: nuragic constructions, the giants' graves, the sacred well known as pozzo sacro, and the archaeological museum in Olbia.

For the medieval chapter, the castles of Pedres and Posada watch over the coast a short drive away.

Wine & Food

Cannonau, Vermentino and pecorino

The best wineries of the region produce the famous Cannonau and Vermentino. Around them, cheese makers and agriturismi sit deep in the green, where you taste the typical products of the territory at the table where they are made.

Events & Festivals

Cinema under Tavolara

The region's calendar fills every summer with its most important events and festivals: sport, cinema, music, culture, food and wine tastings. Some evenings end with a film screened in the open air, the cliffs of Tavolara standing in for the theatre wall.

Local Markets

Handicrafts, straight from the maker

Open-air markets run through the area by day and by evening, selling Sardinian handicrafts and regional products straight from the people who make them. The market morning of San Pantaleo, in its granite village square, is the classic outing.
